Post-weld residual tensile stress exceeded 300 MPa at the weld HAZ. Combined with chloride >500 ppm at 80°C, residual stress exceeded SCC threshold.
Full solution anneal at 1120°C with rapid quench after welding. For new projects, C22 specified for as-welded SCC immunity.
